Feza Erkeller-Yuksel.
I enjoy painting with oil in a spontaneous way and try to record the natural shapes and figures around me.
I emigrated to the UK because of my political views in 1986.
My most recent work investigates the roots of my family and explores the unusual geology and architecture of Cappadocia in Turkey, where my father's family originally came from and briefly took refuge after being forced to escape from Istanbul in 1920.
Cappadocia is a 9 million years old volcanic landscape, full of surprising abstract natural forms. It has been inhabited for 10000 years.
Painting the landscapes of this magical land connects me to my roots.
